Ignite Volleyball Club Coaches

Chris Crosby

Volleyball Director | 2022 14 National Head Coach and 17/18 National 2 Head Coach

Chris started Ignite in 2015 and  continues to grow the programs' success every season. Chris has 29 years of volleyball experience as a player and coach in California, Oregon and Idaho.  Chris started his coaching career as a 14U club assistant in 1996 with former Stanford Head Coach, John Dunning.  Chris has coached youth teams at every level of high school and club.  As founder of Sisters Juniors VBC in Sisters, OR, he started a club program in 2000 that still runs today.  Chris was the varsity coach at Sisters HS and his teams qualified for the state playoffs for the 6 years in a row that he coached there.   He has coached players to numerous high school all-league and all-state awards and a number of players have gone on to college careers.  He was awarded the Capital Conference (OR) coach of the year award in 2004.  Chris is Impact Certified through USAV and has taken the CAP Level 1 training.  Chris has also coached basketball, baseball, and football here in the Treasure Valley over the last 12 years.  He and his wife Heather and 3 kids live in Meridian.

Ryan Hofmann

Recruiting Coordinatior| 17/18 National 1 Head Coach

Ryan returns to the Ignite coaching staff  for his 4th season after leading his 2021 18's team to the HDVL Championship title. Ryan brings 14 years of coaching experience at the college club level, high school and junior club level.  Ryan was the head coach of the Washington State Univ women’s club program for 8 years and earned a 189-39 record in his 6 seasons as part of the Pacific Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (PIVA).  He led the WSU club program to 4 league championships and the 2012-13 national championship title.  He is a two-time district coach of the year recipient as the varsity head volleyball coach at Moscow HS in Northern Idaho from 2013-2015.  Coach Hofmann has coached at 3 different clubs at the 18U, 16U and 14U national team level.  Ryan was the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach here in Boise at Capital HS from 2016-2020 and now is the Varsity Head Coach at Mountain View HS. Ryan will bring his enthusiasm and leadership to Ignite and head coach our 18National team for 2021-22. 

Callie Mulvihill

18 National Assistant

Callie is excited to join the Ignite family for her first season and brings 17 years of playing, coaching, and athletic administration experience. Prior to Ignite, she spent 4 years with Sacramento State University (DI) where she served as the NCAA compliance administrator for volleyball, beach volleyball, and 6 other teams. Prior to Sacramento State, she served in the same role with Azusa Pacific University (DII) for two years. She brings valuable experience in both recruiting regulations and collegiate expectations. Callie has also been a part of northern California's Five Starz Volleyball Club coaching staff and has assisted with numerous teams, camps, and clinics. Player development is especially important to Callie and she is excited to help her team find success both on and off the court. 

Chris Boaz

17/18 National 2 Assistant Coach

Chris is excited to join the Ignite family and brings with him 22 years of playing and coaching experience. Chris played at Valhalla High School where he was a member of the 2001 CIF Championship program as well as 2002 and 2003 League Champions.  Chris is a native of San Diego where he coached both girls and guys volleyball.  He coached at Club Pacific for 10 years including the last 3 as the Director of Recruitment and multiple high schools winning one CIF championship and making several appearances in the state semi-finals.  Chris’ coaching style is best summed up by preparing players to be proactive rather than reactive.  Chris, his wife Katie, and their two dogs live in Caldwell.

Jo Hardin

Assistant Club Director and 16 National Head Coach

Coach Jo returns for season number 7 with Ignite.  She has 18 years of playing and coaching experience and started her career at Napa High School. Prior to ignite she coached for the Boise River VBC as a 16U head coach.  After playing on the BSU club team, Jo spent 3+ years working in the Boise State Women's Volleyball program as manager and statistics specialist.  Jo has coached multiple teams at all age levels from14U -18U age groups.  Jo was the head Varsity coach at Meridian HS from 2018-2020 and will head coach our 16-1 team in 2022.

David Coleman

16 National Assistant Coach

David returns for his second year as a Club Coach for Ignite.  Last season he was the assistant for the 15 National team.  He has coached Club for 9 years at all levels from 12-17U Divisions, and 4 years as the JV Coach at Orofino HS.  He is currently the JV Coach at Mountain View High School.  His playing experience primarily was outdoors on the grass and sand, but brings a solid technical approach to the indoor game through his degree in Sport Science from the University of Idaho.  He believes that coaches as well as the athletes should strive to continue to grow individually and has continued his education in completing the Art of Coaching Volleyball, Levels 1 and 2 Coaching Certifications as well as the Setter Coaching Certification. He is also certified with the Positive Coaching Alliance and NFHS.

Kevin Sathre

16 Elite Head Coach

Kevin returns for his second year coaching for ignite. He brings over 27 years of coaching and playing experience to our staff.  Kevin coached our 15 Elite team last seson and prior to that he coached at Legacy VBC in Santa Clarita, CA for 10 years in various age groups as a head and assistant coach.  He has coached club on the girls and boys side since the mid 90's and has 4 top 10 National finishes as a boys coach with one National Championship as part of the Synergy Boys VBC as an assistant to Walt Ker in 2003-2004.  Kevin and his family have recently moved to Eagle, ID in 2020. We appreciate Kevin's knowledge and great character as part of our coaching staff.

Stephanie Simon

16 Elite Assistant Coach

Stephanie is in her second year with the Ignite program and has 4 years of coaching experience. She is the freshman head coach at Centennial HS and has coached at Camas HS and Centennial in the past 3 years. Stephanie loves being able to share her knowledge and passion for the sport that has brought her many wonderful memories and friendships. Stephanie started playing volleyball when she was eleven after watching her mom playing. She continued playing after high school as a right side/middle hitter for University of Great Falls. After that she went on to University of Idaho and played for three more years on their club team.

Veronica Brumburgh

16 Elite Assistant Coach

Roni Joins us for her second year at Ignite she brings 8 years playing experience with 4 years coaching experience. She played 3 years at Granada HS in Livermore, CA alongside 4 years of club and 2 years of beach. All throughout high-school she was a libero/ DS and started coaching for Ohlone Juniors helping with 11’s, 12’s and the developmental team. After moving to Idaho, I was the assistant coach for the freshman/sophomore team at Bishop Kelly High School. She loves helping girls find a connection with each other and seeing them develop as people and players all around. 

Dee Shefa

15 National Head Coach

Dee has coached for 4 seasons at Ignite and was our 14 National head coach last year.  During the 2019 club season at Sudden Impact VBC in Seattle, her team qualified for USA Volleyball’s Junior National Championships. Dee has over 17 years of volleyball experience as a player and coach in Idaho and Washington.  Dee started her coaching career at Boise High School as the JV head coach. Since then,  Dee has coached teams at the high school, club and collegiate level.  Dee is Impact Certified through USAV, GMS Certified and NCAA Certified.  

Dee will be assisted by current NNU volleyball players Natalie Sullivan and Anna Gable.

Blaykleigh Smythe

15 Elite Head Coach

Blaykleigh Is new to ignite this season. She grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where she played volleyball at Horizon Honors HS and Arizona Storm Volleyball.  Then, she received a scholarship to play at Belhaven University, in Jackson, Mississippi, where she held the starting middle blocker position. During her career at Belhaven, she received: ASC All Academic Team, NCAA Mideast All-Region First Team, and SSAC All-Conference Freshman Team.  She graduated in 2018 with a degree in Biochemistry and worked for two years at the MS Crime Lab.  Blaykleigh has a total of 6 years of coaching experience, including Mississippi Volleyball Club and Infinity Volleyball Club, and two years as the head varsity coach at Hillcrest Christian School.  She just recently relocated to Boise, ID to prepare to attend law school in Fall 2022.  She is about to coach her first season at Rocky Mountain High School as the JV Volleyball Coach and is excited to start her first year coaching at Ignite Volleyball

Haley Floen

14 National Coach Assistant

Haley Floen returns to ignite for the  2022 season. She has 13 years of volleyball experience as a player and a coach. Haley played 4 years of varsity volleyball in Southern California at Rim of the World High School as an outside hitter and defensive specialist where as a team they won 3 league championships, made 3 CIF championship appearances with 1 overall CIF championship, reaching the state semifinals her junior year. Haley then played for the BSU club team her freshman year of college as a setter. Haley started her coaching career helping out with clinics at her high school in Southern California while she was home for summers.  She started her coaching career here in Boise with Rise Volleyball Academy and returns for her 4th season at Ignite as the assistant coach for the 14-1 team.

Adriano de Souza

14 Elite Head Coach

Former Club Director and head coach for Volei Xtreme VBC, Post Falls ID is a native Brazilian with past experience playing high-competitive volleyball in a youth club from age 15 to 18 years old.  He also had 2 years of playing at a professional beach volleyball level as a teen. Adriano has over 15 years of experience in athletic training & coaching. He has a management background in both soccer and volleyball Academy training and competitive league organizations.  He has worked with youth as a personal trainer, coach, administrator and mentor. He has had various jobs coaching youth and developing their fundamentals as well as training them at a competitive level.  Adriano also has Junior high and High school varsity (Girls Volleyball) level coaching experience in the Northwest Region.  He prides in being able to use his talent and experience to train his own children and enjoys any opportunity to help them in their personal progression and development of athletic ability.
